vivo has launched two new smartphones in South Africa – the flagship vivo V30 5G and the upper-mid-range vivo V30e – debuting them at an exclusive event in Johannesburg.
Both smartphones deliver innovative camera technologies that position them as the ultimate smartphones for creatives and social media influencers.
“The ambition of our V30 5G series is to bring our consumers studio-level portrait quality,” said vivo SA GTM Manager Jay Yang.
Yang added that launching the new smartphones is an important step towards vivo’s goal of being the smartphone leader in the South African market.
This is thanks to the V30 5G and V30e being the first vivo smartphones to be sold by all four of South Africa’s major mobile network operators – MTN, Vodacom, Cell C, and Telkom.
Stunning photography
The V30 5G features an impressive dual 50MP rear camera system that produces hyper-realistic photos, particularly when capturing portraits.
This is enabled by its innovative Aura Light Portrait feature, which comprises a rectangular lighting panel below the camera array.
vivo’s Aura Light Portrait module acts as a turbocharged flash, and thanks to its large surface area – 19-times that of a conventional smartphone camera flash – it generates gentler lighting for more accurate and harmonious colours.
The Aura Light Portrait feature also works seamlessly with the smartphone’s camera system to deliver several key photography features.
These include distance-sensitive lighting – which detects how far away the subject is and ensures optimal lighting – and automatic colour temperature adjustments.
The V30e then boasts a powerful Sony IMX882 module that headlines its dual-sensor rear camera system.
Thanks to its Sony camera module, this smartphone will take phenomenal photos that outshine other devices in its segment.
Brilliant display
The vivo V30 5G features a stunning 6.78-inch 3D curved display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution.
You always receive sharp colours and contrast, too, thanks to its 2,800 nits of peak local brightness and its support for one billion colours.
Notably, the V30e also boasts a curved display with a 90Hz refresh rate.
Both screens therefore ensure your favourite series, movies, and apps look excellent.
Performance
vivo has packed powerful hardware into both V30 smartphones to ensure their impressive cameras and displays run flawlessly.
This includes 12GB + 12GB extended RAM – available across both models – which enables each smartphone to run up to 48 background apps comfortably.
The V30e then offers 256GB of storage, while up to 512GB is available with the V30 5G.
Both also boast excellent processors – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chips for the V30 5G and V30e, respectively.
High-capacity batteries round out the impressive suite of hardware.
The V30 5G boasts a 5,000mAh battery and 80W FlashCharge, while the V30e has an even larger 5,500mAh battery.
