Exactly, why would they pass the GOP's single-issue bill when they could get a bipartisan bill that contained the aid packages they wanted? And the GOP killed it purely because they didn't want to be seen as handing Democrats a border win. Why on earth would Democrats give them ANYTHING after their performance?

Making it a campaign issue is a far greater win for the GOP especially if Trump demands it. Trump > Party > Country
