Posting guidelines

Plenty of trolling, personal attacks, bypassing of the swear filter and off topic remarks in news threads as of late...

Yes, the swear filter is archaic and we are all adults but while the forum owner has it in place, please abide by it... at least in the news section!

Can we please get a rule against people posting threads starting with "BREAKING"? It serves no purpose and just obfuscates the actual title/subject of the thread.

According to MyBB Guidelines, if you post a news article you also have to use the heading from the source. So if the heading says "breaking", broken it is.

4) Please post your own comments and opinions in a separate post AFTER the article. Rather keep the News Article in its own post. Also try to avoid re-quoting very long articles if you are only adding one line of comment. Please do not edit or highlight the source article. Rather quote the article in a separate post.

I have no idea why this was change, as it used to never be this way. It was originally changed that you need to include your opinion on the piece in the post which quoted the article. That way you added your opinion to the article in order to spark a discussion.

As of later we're getting links with a quote and no view posted by the OP.

That in itself can be seen as link dropping, even if there is a quote. The Person posted that article for a reason so we should be able to have their input/view in the same post. Not a separate second post. Point 7 and point 4 clashes because of it. And people are getting warnings for it. It's retarded!

Those posting guidelines needs to be reviewed. No idea why it was changed.

That is the reason we have people spamming articles now since they don't have to add a comment to the post.

I agree wholeheartedly..but removed my comments anyway as was told they do not adhere to posting guidelines.

Used to never be like this. Someone changed it for some idiotic reason. It makes zero sense. You are asked not to link drop, but you do it since you can't comment in the same post. You are requested to make a second post with your opinion or view, which sometimes can be too late and someone beat you to posting. Would love to know the reason for them changing it...

I would like to propose capital punishment for posting thread titles in all caps. No, I don't care if the news feed you copied it off had it in caps.

I think this rule encourages trolling. In the past people needed to give their views relevant to the article they posted. Now they can just drop a news article without the need to give their views & then sit back and watch the dung bomb explode from a safe distance untouched by any of the stuff from the fan.

Nobody changed this rule, it's always been this way since I've been here.
The reasoning was that it would prevent people from re-quoting the entire article every time they wanted to respond to the OP.
We were getting threads where almost every post on the first page requoted the ENTIRE article.
Makes for tedious scrolling. Now they can just quote the person's comments (like everyone else who comments after the article).
The point of this forum is for people to post news articles so that others can comment on it.
There is no requirement that they themselves HAVE TO comment on it.
If they are found to be trolling, we will deal with that as it arises.

I see that there's a new trend of "link dropping" Twitter links - please post an image or a few words of what the link is about.

How can I delete my profile and all my posts? I can't tolerate the racism in this forum anymore.
