Samsung Galaxy S22

Waited so long for that One UI 6 update and I ended up not even doing it when it came out. Kept saying I needed to take my time, clean install, reinstall everything etc.

Now I've got the S24 and won't be doing the update on the S22 at all.

Anyone that bought a Vodacom S22 and uses another network besides Vodacom such as Telkom had luck with e-sims I can’t find the option to do so on my dads S22

He did the trade in at cellucity which gave him a Vodacom branded S22 which has the ability to add a second physical sim but not an eSIM

Is there anyway I can add an Afrihost eSIM to his phone ? Under SIM card manager shows no option to add a sim

Oddly there is a Samsung network unlock in the settings which does nothing when pressed

S22+ non vodacom

If it doesn't offer esim what's the problem with just getting a physical one & doing it that way

I took my MTN S22 Ultra to the UK, successfully used other SIMs and eSIMs here.
My primary SIM is an eSIM.

I have an S22U from Vodacom, initially eSIM was disabled and it had to have a physical Vodacom SIM to function.

There was an update soon after I got it that enabled eSIM and removed network locking.

There's a thread about Vodacom disabling eSIMs on Samsung devices:

Oh great ! Yea my dad doesn’t update his phone so I’ll update it later although I ordered a physical sim from Afrihost I’m sure I can use a Telkom and MTN sim together

Messed up that Vodacom does this when the customer doesn’t use a Vodacom sim

I’m assuming this means a normal software update

I was able to add an esim as my secondary sim with my Vodacom physical sim in the phone. Will test to see what happens if I remove my Vodacom sim

I thought only S23 and newer.
Nah, we still have 2 more Major Android OS upgrades before they call it quits and switch to security updates.
So we'll be good up until one ui 8 or so (if they still keep the same naming convention).

this is what made me buy the S22 Ultra... the longer support.
I suspect I will be buying the S25 Ultra for myself. I am buying the S24+ for the lady for her birthday in May.

The S22 Ultra has been so good for me... its the first time I havent wanted to upgrade yearly. It's really such a good device. I reckon I will go for the S25 too
