DStv takeover continues

French media conglomerate Groupe Canal+ has acquired another 3,653,492 shares in MultiChoice, bringing its total ownership of the company to 40.83%.

It acquired the additional shares from 12 to 17 April for between R115.95 and R117.50.

Why do they keep buying up shares if they will never have more than 20% of the voting rights ?
 
Makes sense. You can fleece the South African market as much as possible, people just keep paying.
It's a money printer.

Look at Wallmart after they bought our Game etc.

Surprised more companies haven't learnt of this trick yet.
 
I haven't been following this much but why not? Their initial offer was rejected if I'm not mistaken and their current offer is still being deliberated so their continued creeping takeover, in accordance with regulatory notifications, makes sense as these shares are being bought below the offer price.
 
For Canal+ it's peanuts. The Rand is worthless against the Euro. Agree with the fact that they are more interested in the bigger & wider African continent. Not really in SA. Why any deliberation from SA's? Maybe because it 20%ters they dealing with? Just asking. 29 French speaking countries on the African continent.
