Most expensive electric cars in South Africa

South African electric vehicle (EV) buyers looking for the best performance, features, range, and charging speeds will have to fork out between about R3 million and R6 million to acquire one of the ten most expensive electric vehicles (EVs) in the country.

While substantially more expensive than petrol or diesel cars with similar designs and internal features, EVs often outperform similarly-priced models in power output and torque.

I am still surprised with car "enthusiasts" clinging to the idea of their slow petrol snails. Electric cars just smoke shock the competition.

I am not too fond of throwing the word "turbo" around willy nilly when it comes to EV's. Pretty sure anybody who ever had to replace an actual turbo on their vehicle would feel the same. A turbo charger is a real thing and identifying to be a turbo boosted vehicle doesn't sit well with me.

Ja. Using terminology of inferior tech with lag and stuff is not right. EVs are much better. Doesn't need turbos. They are just fast.

Correct - it's almost like referring to horsepower. How many carrots to the league does your buggy need?

This really is the future.

You're thinking one dimensional bud.

You're confusing/assuming straight line speed is the be all & end all.

Completely forgetting that a properly setup ICE cabbie will be faster, lighter, corner better, break better, allow repeated performance etc.

Shame. Is it really that sad to kiss 100 year old obsolete technology goodbye? Face it - the metrics that EVs don't beat ICE yet they soon will. Apart from noise and pollution.

ICE served us well. Time we bury it though. That horse is dead.

Aha, I see now.

One of those guys eh.

As you were.
