Cheapest high-resolution monitors in South Africa

High-resolution monitors can help boost immersion and provide better gaming and working experiences, and several options are available in South Africa, with prices starting at R4,999 for QHD and R5,549 for 4K.

MyBroadband looked for the most affordable high-resolution monitors in South Africa. We only included Quad High-Definition (QHD) and 4K resolution options.

A QHD display offers about 1.8x the number of pixels of a 1080p monitor, while 4K displays feature a resolution of at least 3,840×2,160 pixels, effectively doubling the resolution of QHD displays.

Both resolutions offer a far crisper picture than FHD displays.

The cheapest QHD monitors available to South African consumers are the LG 32-inch UltraGear 32GN600-series Gaming Monitor and the Dell 27-inch Curved QHD Monitor.

Evetech sells both monitors for R4,999. The gaming-oriented monitors both feature a refresh rate of up to 165Hz.

LG’s 27-inch 27UL500-W-series IPS LED monitor is the most affordable 4K option available to consumers at R5,549 from Titan-Ice.

It features AMD FreeSync Technology but only features a refresh rate of 60Hz.

Two QHD and one 4K option are available for between R5,500 and R6,500. Regarding the QHD monitors, Evetech sells the 27-inch S2721DS-series Dell monitor with a 75Hz refresh rate for R5,699.

For R450 more, South Africans can get the 27-inch S2722DC-series Dell monitor from Evetech, which also has a 75Hz refresh rate.

The only real difference between the two monitors is that the latter supports USB-C display connectivity.

South Africans can buy the 32-inch S8-series Samsung 4K Monitor from Evetech for R6,499. The flat monitor features a 60Hz refresh rate.

Gaming fans can get the decently-specced 27-inch Samsung Odyssey G5 gaming monitor from the manufacturer’s website for R6,999.

It features a QHD display with a refresh rate of up to 165Hz.

For R7,999, South Africans can get the work-oriented S2722QC-series 27-inch Dell 4K monitor from Evetech.

Like the S2722DC-series monitor, it features USB-C display connectivity. However, its refresh rate is lower at just 60Hz.

Evetech also sells a curved MSI gaming monitor — the 32-inch G321CU-series monitor — for R8,499.

Despite its 4K-resolution display and curved design, the monitor’s maximum refresh rate is just 60Hz.

The most expensive option we included is Samsung’s M7-series 32-inch 4K Smart Monitor, which is available from Takealot for R10,999.
