Most affordable curved monitors in South Africa — prices from R2,299

South African gamers or those looking for a curved monitor for better immersion and comfort have various options from which to choose, with prices starting from R2,299.

MyBroadband scoured online retailers’ catalogues to find the most affordable curve monitors you can buy in South Africa.

Curved monitors provide various benefits over traditional flat-screen monitors, including higher immersion when viewing content, enhanced depth perception, reduced distortion, a wider field of view, and improved focus and comfort.

The most affordable option is Samsung’s LC24F390FH-series 24-inch 1080p curved monitor for R2,299 from Evetech. It features a 60Hz refresh rate and supports AMD FreeSync.

For R400 more, South Africans can increase the display size and get Samsung’s 27-inch model.

Excluding size, it features similar specifications, and both monitors have a display curvature of 1,800R.

Prices take a substantial step up for the third-most affordable option — Samsung’s LC32T550FH-series 32-inch FHD curved monitor.

Takealot sells the monitor for R3,999, and it features a borderless design, 1,000R curvature, a 75Hz refresh rate, and AMD FreeSync support.

Gamers looking for a higher refresh rate can get a 144Hz Viewsonic curved monitor for the same price.

Evetech sells the 24-inch Viewsonic FHD curved monitor for R3,999. It features 1,800R curvature, a 144Hz refresh rate, and support for AMD FreeSync.

South Africans can get another 32-inch Samsung curved monitor — the LC32R500FH FHD model — for R4,499 from Makro.

The 1,500R monitor has a 75Hz refresh rate, AMD FreeSync support, and a Game Mode feature, which Samsung says improves colour settings and image contrast for better gaming performance.

Three high refresh rate curved monitors are available in the country for between R4,989 and R5,999.

Takealot sells the 27-inch FHD S2721HGFA-model Dell curved monitor for R4,989. It features a 144Hz refresh rate, 1,500R curvature, and AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync support.

For just under R400 more, South African gamers can get the MSI G27C4 E3 curved monitor, which has a maximum refresh rate of 180Hz.

The best price we found for the monitor was from Progenix. MSI doesn’t specify a syncing technology like AMD FreeSync or Nvidia G-Sync but says the monitor features “Adaptive Sync”.

The most expensive option listed is the 24-inch C24RG50FQU-series curved monitor made by Samsung at R5,999 from Takealot.

The monitor offers a 144Hz refresh rate, 1,800R curvature, and support for AMD FreeSync.
