South Africa’s favourite telecoms companies for businesses

South Africa’s IT decision-makers revealed that Vodacom, MTN and Openserve are their favourite brands for mobile and fixed telecoms in their companies.

This data formed part of MyBroadband’s Corporate IT brand survey, where IT professionals and executives revealed their preferences regarding business IT solutions.

The survey was completed by 1,518 respondents, most of whom were executives and managers deciding on which IT products their companies buy.

The results were filtered only to include respondents who decide which ICT products and services their company uses.

Top mobile operators

One part of the survey asked participants which mobile network operator they would choose for their business.

Vodacom was the most popular choice, with almost half of the respondents saying they would pick them for their company.

It was interesting to note that the survey results were in-line with mobile operators’ revenue and subscriber market share in South Africa.

MTN was also popular, with 35% of respondents picking them for their business needs.

MTN won the MyBroadband trophy for the best mobile voice network in 2023, which explains businesses’ trust in them.

Telkom also had a decent result at 11%, while Rain and Cell C were not very popular for business use.

Top fixed telecoms providers

Participants were also asked which fixed telecoms provider they would choose for their business.

Vodacom Business was the most popular by far, claiming 29% of the participants’ votes.

Vodacom Business offers companies various telecom and internet services and recently became a Microsoft Teams Operator Connect partner in South Africa.

MTN Business took second place, with 19% of the respondents picking them for their general telecoms needs.

MTN Business also won the 2024 MyBroadband Award for the Best Business ICT Solutions provider.

The battle for fixed telecoms is much closer than the one for mobile networks, with Telkom and Vox hot on MTN’s heels at 15%.
