FNB expands eBucks Rewards to Spar

FNB Private customers will be able to earn up to 15% in eBucks back on their purchases at Spar stores from February 2024.

The bank announced it has added the grocery retailer to its list of partners, joining other major outlets like Shoprite and Checkers, Takealot, Engen, and Clicks.

“FNB Private Clients, Private Wealth and RMB Private Bank clients will earn up to 15% back in eBucks when they shop in-store at Spar, Superspar, Kwikspar and Tops using their qualifying FNB or RMB Private Bank virtual cards,” the bank said.

FNB Private Segment CEO Sizwe Nxedlana said the “like-minded” collaboration with partners like Spar allowed the bank to scale its ability to enable clients to manage their financial and lifestyle facets.

“Our expanded lifestyle partner ecosystem makes it easier and convenient for our clients to stretch their wallets,” said Nxedlana.

Spar Group’s omnichannel executive, Blake Raubenheimer, pointed out that customers can earn eBucks from over 2,500 stores while also benefitting from its Spar Rewards programme, which provides access to monthly deals and promotions.

FNB customers must opt-in for eBucks Rewards on their FNB or RMB Private Bank apps.

For optimal earn rates, customers will have to use their virtual cards when making payments.

Paying with a physical card will only earn them up to 1% of their purchase value back in eBucks, while virtual card earning rates start at 1% and go up to 15%, depending on the customer’s reward level.

To make payments with a virtual card, customers must use their FNB app or a linked digital wallet like Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, or Garmin Pay on a smartphone or smartwatch.
