MTN appoints new group chief commercial officer

MTN has announced the appointment of Selorm Adadevoh as Group Chief Commercial Officer, effective 1 April 2024.

Adadevoh will succeed Group Chief Operations Officer Jens Schulte-Bockum, whose contract ends on 31 March 2024.

The company notes that Adadevoh’s designation has been amended to better align with MTN’s Group Operating Model. However, he will assume all of Shulte-Bockum’s executive responsibilities.

Adadevoh has extensive industry experience, having joined MTN in 2018 as CEO of MTN Ghana.

Before becoming CEO of the MTN subsidiary, Adadevoh took on key roles within the Digicel Group, including CEO, COO, and global director for mobile financial services.

Before then, he held various senior positions at Millicom/Tigo in Ghana, including CCO, head of mobile financial services, and head of product innovation.

Shulte-Bockum, Adadevoh’s predecessor, served at MTN for seven years.

Schulte-Bockum will remain with the MTN Group as a non-executive director on the MTN South Africa, MTN Nigeria, and Bayobab boards.

“I would like to thank Jens for his valuable contribution over the years. We look forward to his continued input on the boards of MTN SA, MTN Nigeria and Bayobab,” said Ralph Mupita, MTN Group CEO.

Adadevoh will be succeeded as CEO of MTN Ghana by Stephen Blewett, who rejoined the company in July 2023.

Before his return, Blewett held the position of COO at Digicel, and before that, he spent seven years within the MTN Group in CEO roles for MTN Benin and MTN Cameroon.
